LA has long been known as the capital of West Coast culture and a hub for creatives to get out and about. With over 400 art galleries sprinkled throughout the city and some of the best museums in the world including LACMA, the Natural History Museum, MOCA, The Hammer, La Brea Tar Pits, and The Getty (just to name a few), there is always something to do and see while being seen, by tastemakers, hipsters and art critics alike.
Not only do the galleries serve as a daytime escape from the sweltering LA sun, but most use summer nights for a unique way to experience their stunning locations with an added element of music, dancing and nightlife fun.
Moves After Dark is a site-specific dance series using The Music Center’s iconic architectural landscape as the backdrop for performances by four Los Angeles-based companies. Each experience takes place at night and showcases how dance can be performed in creative ways off stage.
The Hammer museum is home to a robust summer series filled with concerts, lectures, readings, screenings and tours, each with themes deeply rooted in the art they exhibit and the culture that spawned it.
