Established in 2010, LA CANVAS is a multi-platform media company focused on being the insider’s guide to Los Angeles’ style, art, music, food and nightlife. LA CANVAS produces original content that is cutting edge, Los Angeles culture-oriented, concentrated on finding market share from 18-34 year old tastemakers who are independent-minded Angelenos with a creative streak.

In love with editorial, digital and major events? We would love you, too. LA CANVAS began in the belief and faith in print. Producing a bi-monthly publication along with time-crunched event planning (and photo shoots, editing, partnering, researching, social media-ing is our calling forté.

We are currently seeking part time interns for our print, online, events and design departments for a duration of three months. This internship is for college credit only, so please apply if you meet this requirement.

Interning at LA CANVAS opens the door to fruitful opportunities while delving into our creative print and media platforms, simultaneously breeding a hands-on, real world experience with a growing editorial company. Come and kick it with us! Check out available internships below.

Main Responsibilities:
-Work closely with the Editor In Chief and all departments to ensure smooth communication and and deadline goals
-Copy editing print stories.
-Liaison between print, digital and art departments.
-Photo shoot assisting – Errands and general production assistant duties.
-Email outreach including Editor, P.R., Brand and Photographer outreach (+more).
-Research + pitching on-brand initiatives and reporting current news.

Desired Qualities:
-Must have a collaborative, enthusiastic and self-starter spirit.
-Strong writing/editing skills
-Knowledge in fashion, art, photography, music, publication culture trends (+more).
-Production coordinating and assisting for photo shoots.

-Liaison between print, art, events and sales departments.
-Photo shoot assisting – Errands and general production assistant duties.
-Email outreach including Editor, P.R., Brand and Photographer outreach (+more).
-Research + pitching on-brand initiatives and reporting current news.
-Blogging + social media pitching + execution.

Main Responsibilities:
-Work closely with Events Directors in the planning, managing and execution of all LA CANVAS events.
-Serve as a communication liaison between brands, sponsors, etc. and event directors.
-Assist in procuring the talent, venues, brands and sponsors for all LA CANVAS events.
-Assist in building and maintaining working relationships with partners, collaborators and brands.
-Assist in completing Graphic Request Forms and Social Media Request forms for all LA CANVAS event promotion material.
-Execute research and sourcing for external sponsors, vendors and companies for LA CANVAS events.
-Complete various administrative duties, such as answering phones, taking messages, faxing, emailing and scanning.

Desired Qualities:
-Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management, and customer service skills.
-Must be very organized and detailed oriented.
-Ability to demonstrate success in planning and managing events, developing budgets, and meeting budget goals.
-Excellent project management skills and the ability to handle complex timelines and multiple projects.
-Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office and Google Docs.
-Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
-Ability to demonstrate high level of confidence in making strategic decisions, good judgment, and innovative and creative problem-solving skills.
-Ability to interact with a broad spectrum of clients (i.e., vendors, brands, talent, sponsors, etc.

Main Responsibilities:
– Working closely with the production director and sr. graphic designer in magazine layouts and compositions, event art direction and collateral, merchandise designs, and website/app developments.
– Designing print collateral, assisting any photo needs for social media, managing other tasks besides design

Desired Qualities:
– Must have strong typography
– Must know Adobe Suite (inDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
– Enthusiastic, charismatic with a great sense of self-initiative
– Must know past and current art/design culture
– Able to lead and work with a team
– Knowledgeable in fashion, a plus
– Video editing, not required but a plus
